**Worst Repair Shop Ever** I brought my grandfather's binoculars in for repair. They were in mint condition, except for a peeling fake leather coating on the hand-holding part. Just take a look at what they did to them! The owner of the shop looked me in the eyes and said, "I don’t know what’s wrong with the repair," and shouted at me, asking whether I realized how difficult it is to put leather on binoculars. They charged us $80, and I requested a full refund. He was extremely angry and refused to return my money. Eventually, he threw cash on the counter and set the binoculars aside. When I asked what he was doing, he said, "I am not giving them back to you." So, I had to peel the leather off in front of the shop owner to retrieve my destroyed binoculars. Meanwhile, one of his colleagues was speaking in German and laughing at the situation, as if it was all a joke. You can decide if this place is right for you.
I brought 4 pairs of shoes to be cleaned up, 2 of which needed to be re-soled. I also brought in a satchel that needed the strap to be re-stitched. One pair I've had for 6 years and they badly needed work, and they look better than they have in a while. Wish I took before and after pictures. He did an excellent job and got it all done in less than a week. I'm very satisfied!
Max is wonderful! We've had many pairs of shoes as well as a few other leather items repaired at his shop. He repaired sandals I did not think were salvageable as well as a vintage tote, dress shoes, and boots. It's fantastic to have his services in town. I really appreciate being able to keep wearing my old favorites even after they are discontinued. They don't make leather shoes like they used to!
What a pro!! A favorite glider chair became unusable when the base fabric split apart from wear. The chair was about to get thrown out. Thankfully, Max did a superb job recreating a new super-sturdy seat support. Now, it’s good as new. Thanks Max!
This was my first and last time I'll be taking my business to Max. I was very disappointed in the work that was done. The final result wasn't what we agreed upon and I was overcharged for services rendered. If you don't want to be overcharged for "less-than" quality, I'd recommend making the drive somewhere else.
