Husband-and-wife owners dish on bringing traditional Chinese fare to South Kingstown.
The story behind South Kingstown restaurant Jayd Bun starts with love.
Now married with a baby daughter, Annie and Joe Parisi met by chance in October of 2014 while each was on vacation in Las Vegas. At the time, he was working as a Pit Boss at Foxwoods and she was a tour guide in Beijing. Soon after, Annie followed her heart and moved from her native China to Connecticut to be with Joe. Very soon after she started to miss the food from her home in Tianjin, China and couldn’t find anything close to it anywhere. So Annie started to cook more and more at home to enjoy the food she ate her entire life. She started learning and creating new recipes to cook. She then traveled back to China and went to a cooking school to learn more. Annie & Joe opened JAYD BUN in October of 2019 and the rest is history.
Absolutely amazing food. Got a variety of dishes and dumplings and each one was amazing. Unique flavors with each dish. The spicy lamb special dumplings and veggie were favorite. The noodle dish was also amazing. The owner is passionate about his business and it shows. Greeted us at the door and explained each dish with detail and excitement. Love places like this. It is takeout only, but there are a ton of breweries in the area that you can bring your food to and sit down and enjoy. Can not recommend this place enough. Will definitely be back with a group to try as many things as possible!
The staff was so friendly, especially the owner Joe. He was so passionate and was recommending other dishes to me after we talked a little about what I like. I got a pork bun combo ($17.88). The buns were like a little bundle of joy. The outside was very soft and great to soak up any sauce. The inside was so juicy as well. The tomato noodle soup had an amazing broth. The noodles were fantastic and had that chewy, authentic texture. The quality is so top-notch here and I love that they care so much about what they offer customers.
My fiance and I came all the way from CT and were not disappointed at all. I am 9 months pregnant and have to say this food satisfied every craving I could imagine. The owner was incredibly nice, suggesting dishes to us and even directing us to some nice spots around town to hang out while we waited for the food. Every single dish was out of this world. The pork buns are an absolute must! We will definitely be coming back!
Jayd Bun is fantastic! My family went there yesterday for dinner and the wait was about 2hrs from when we placed the order. We decided to wait because we heard such good things and it was truly worth the wait! Not only was the food worth it but the service from the owners and staff is unbelievable ❤️ they were so apologetic that the food took so long (we were happy to wait) that they threw in a few extra dishes and comped up the meal which was outstanding!
I ADORE this place as only a heavily pregnant foodie can. It is ALWAYS amazing; cheerful and 100% worth the wait. The attention to detail; focus for community building and lovely owners are amazing. Highly recommend. They always do the best they can with estimating food times; sometimes run behind because the food is THAT GOOD and MADE TO ORDER FRESH. I patiently waited 15 minutes past my estimated time and was GRATEFUL to devour when I got home. Keep up the amazing quality JaydBun.
