Husband-and-wife owners dish on bringing traditional Chinese fare to South Kingstown.
The story behind South Kingstown restaurant Jayd Bun starts with love.
Now married with a baby daughter, Annie and Joe Parisi met by chance in October of 2014 while each was on vacation in Las Vegas. At the time, he was working as a Pit Boss at Foxwoods and she was a tour guide in Beijing. Soon after, Annie followed her heart and moved from her native China to Connecticut to be with Joe. Very soon after she started to miss the food from her home in Tianjin, China and couldn’t find anything close to it anywhere. So Annie started to cook more and more at home to enjoy the food she ate her entire life. She started learning and creating new recipes to cook. She then traveled back to China and went to a cooking school to learn more. Annie & Joe opened JAYD BUN in October of 2019 and the rest is history.
Finally, I found authentic Chinese food in RI! The pork buns and veggie buns are so delicious! Jayd fusion(scallion pancakes) are good for snacking as well. Of course the Jin Jin dumplings are delicious and the sauce is unique and accompanies the dumplings perfectly. Also I highly recommend the chefs congee. I love the ginger flavor and it’s perfect food for winter time breakfast or when you catch a cold!
10/10, If you’re staying in Narragansett and want a break from lobster rolls and whole belly’s, Jayd Bun is an absolute must try. We were lucky enough to stop in and were blown away by the quality of the food and hospitality. Annie and Joe were kind and welcoming. They clearly are extremely passionate about their craft and it’s unmistakable when you try their food. They recommend ordering ahead of time because every dish is crafted to order, we happily waited 45 minutes for our food to come out but if you’re not into waiting defiantly call ahead. Jayd Bun is a small take out shop with a nice patio to sit out on and enjoy your food. As a chef and restaurant owner myself it is very rare to stumble upon a restaurant putting this level of care into every dish they make. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu!
So we were lucky enough to have this amazing food on Thanksgiving Day! Jay and his wife are truly amazing people. There wasn’t one complaint at our table of family and friends. Everyone absolutely loved EVERYTHING! The food is made to order, and everything is so tasty . Definitely the best!! If you haven’t had the chance to try it, PLEASE DO! You will not be disappointed!! 🫶🏽
Looks to be one of the only authentic Chinese restaurants in the area and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Spicy YoPo Noodles, Ja Jen Men, and Tomato Noodle Soup (has egg). Out of those 3, our favorite was the tomato noodle soup. The star of the show were the authentic noodles which were clearly handmade and fresh! The other two noodle dishes were good, but we felt that they went a little too heavy on the sauce. It was a bit overpowering, but still had the authentic flavor. Overall, we liked our experience and might go back to try the buns.
Absolutely fantastic! Excellent service and amazing food! I highly recommend anyone who loves good food to pay a visit and taste the luxury of their meals! Annie and Joe are a delight, and bring a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The buns were absolutely delicious and I found myself craving more even after being full, the Jade Fusion gave my tastebuds an adventure they'd never had. Absolutely phenomenal! I can't stop talking about them. My boyfriend and I will definitely be returning as soon as possible and bring plenty of friends!
